Review: Etude House Fresh Cherry Tint

26 Jul

I’ve had some hits and misses with Korean brand Etude House.  I stumbled on these Fresh Cherry Tints quite by accident.  I included them in a larger Etude House order thinking they were lip gloss.  But Etude House Fresh Cherry Tints are not what I expected… well, not exactly.

Etude House Fresh Cherry Tints come in three colors, red, pink, and peach (I only have the first two).  They are on the small side, with the entire container standing about the height of a lipstick, and most of that being lid.  However, this little package holds a lot of product.  Each product is 9.5 g/.33 oz, as opposed to a MAC lipglass, which is 4.8 g/.17 oz.  The top of the container screws off and attached is a doe-foot applicator.  So far, all’s normal.

The product swipes on nicely.  It’s not totally even at first stroke, the same as most any lipgloss I’ve used, but it’s easy to even it out.  The texture is on the thicker side, like a gloss but decidedly less sticky.  It’s more soft and creamy, with a lovely sheen.  The gloss portion is not long lasting, however, the best feature of this product comes when the gloss is worn away or wiped off.  The Fresh Cherry Tints are really a lipstain disguised as a gloss.  Unlike most lipstains I’ve tried, these are not overly phony looking or excessively drying.  Even the red makes the lips look gorgeous and well-colored but not in-your-face-obvious.  I love these topped with a bit of gloss or a balm to add a little slickness to the color.  I am able to easily get 6-8 hours of wear from the tints during a normal day, which includes several meals and copious amounts of lip balm.  It fades evenly so there’s no obnoxious ring around the outer edges of the lips, and a good eye-and-lip remover wipes away the remaining stain.

Do I love these?  YES!  They’re my hot weather go-to product when I want to look polished but not overdone.  I wish they came in more colors!  I purchased these from EBay seller ideaseller_kr for $8.69 each, which included shipping.  Read on for photos.

I heard these smelled/tasted weird, almost bitter. Any experience with smell or taste, or should I be ebaying these immediately?

I had to stick my nose right up there (risking a stained schnoz) to get any scent- just the faintest whiff of… candy? And no taste to speak of, especially biterness. Once applied, it feels a bit tingly/numbish, like the lips are going to sleep, but it quickly passes.

I have the one in pink and I’m loving it! I think it smells like cherry. There’s this weird feeling when you apply it on your lips but it disappears after a few minutes.
