Review: Wet n Wild Mega Slicks Lip Gloss

12 Aug

I heart heart heart my Wet n Wild eyeshadow palettes.  I’ve tried a few of the lipsticks and they weren’t bad.  This gloss, however… Well, it sucks.  I can’t pretty up that statement.  I purchased Wet n Wild Mega Slicks Lip Gloss in 565C Cotton Candy, expecting it to be vibrant pink.  The tube is vibrant pink.  The name, Cotton Candy, implies pink.  It’s not vibrant, and it’s barely pink.  It’s a clear gloss with the teensiest hint of pink.  On the lips it looks clear.

It’s also sticky, as in stickier than Urban Decay gloss, not to be worn outside at all because it will be a hair magnet sticky.  In addition to being sticky, my tube also seemed to thicken.  It wasn’t overly thick when I tried it for the first time, but when I opened it a week later to take the swatch photos, it was goopy.  It also didn’t smell bad at first, but the second time there was a quite noticeable “chemical” scent- nothing horrible, just quite synthetic, like a mix of vaseline and new car smell.  Was my tube off?  I have no way of knowing, short of buying another.

Sticky, goopy, not pink, rapidly changes.  The upside is that it was dirt cheap at $1.99.  However, I don’t think I’ll be buying this again.  Pictures, as always, under the cut.

That’s a disappointing lip gloss, unfortunately. I prefer mine to have *some color*, because if I didn’t want any color, I would just buy a clear gloss. The only saving factor would have been the formula/scent, but that doesn’t look like it worked out either! Oh well. Thankfully it didn’t break the bank. ;-)

I was so sad when I put it on and it was clear. I really wanted that bright pink.

To me, Wet n Wild products are either really good (like the eyeshadows) or really bad (like these glosses). I had one and it smelled so bad I just threw it away, so it wasn’t just yours. The tubes of lipgloss they have that all have “Glass” in the name are pretty good. They’re called glassy gloss or something. They aren’t SUPER pigmented, but definitely more than this. And they don’t stink!

I’ve tried some of the squeeze tube gloss and it was quite nice. I wish I liked the squeeze tube applicators better because the formula was miles beyond this one.

I think that your tube may be off or just a bad batch ?
I have one in Cherry Glaze. Yes it is sheer but it is SUPER creamy.
