Simplicity Cosmetics Swatches

22 Aug

I wanted to share with you a small fragment of what I love about indie sellers.  I was talking with Sarah, the owner of Simplicity Cosmetics, about a Japanese palette from Aube Couture, Designing Shine Eyes in 532, that I really loved the look of (you can see swatches here).  It’s such a soft, feminine, pretty pink and brown combo.  However, I knew I wouldn’t wear it enough to justify the high cost.  Ichibankao is selling the palette for ¥3700- about $48- which includes shipping.  While I have paid that much for palettes in the past, my heart lies with bright, bold colors, and I didn’t wnat to spend so much money on something I’d only wear on occasion.  I went to Simplicity Cosmetics to see if Sarah had any similar colors.  She had 2 similar colors of the 4, but offered to dupe the other colors for me based on the swatch photo I linked above.  The swatches below are her result.

Ice and Bloom are the shades she made for me.  Ice is quite packed on in the photo, it’s more of an iridescent shade that can be worn over the rest of the colors (for those of you familiar with Japanese eye makeup, this is the “glitter”).  Glimmer is a less-warm highlight shade than the original Aube Couture palette, which I chose because cool tones work better on me.  Bloom is the stunningly pretty soft pink shade Sarah made for me.  She added it to her store and said it’s been a big seller for her.  Toast is one of her original colors, and Smoke is the free sample she included.  It’s clear that she chose it to complement the other colors, as matches so perfectly with the rest.  Simplicity’s full sizes are in 10 gram jars, and the total cost for my “duped palette” was $20 plus a few bucks to ship.

This level of service perfectly illustrates why I prefer to spend my money at indie companies.  I couldn’t be more pleased with the service and products from Simplicity Cosmetics.  (Check them out on Etsy, especially if you like more subtle makeup than what I usually feature!)

That’s an awesome perk of shopping Indie. I’ve never tried Simplicity, but I’ve eyed a few things on her Etsy site–I don’t wear a lot of neutrals or even subtle shades, but some of those look too gorgeous to pass up!

I have been super-pleased with the quality of Simplicity’s product. I don’t reach for neutrals that often, but when I do, they’re Sarah’s. The Blogger review kit was a great deal for me because samples of neutrals are perfect. When they run out I fully intend to restock with f/s Simplicity shades. Plus, Sarah is really kind and great to work with. Did you see the original review and swatches I did?

That palette is so cute! But I couldn’t see spending that much on it either. Indie MMU companies are the BEST because they will do things like this for you! She did a great job putting together a set of dupes!

Considering she was working off swatch photos, I figured it would take a while to dupe, but she had it ready in a day. Sarah is awesome. :)

That’s amazing customer service. I love when people take pride in their work and they are willing to go the extra mile. It really helps develop devoted customers because it shows you are appreciated by them.
